Let us begin with this one transformation essential: create. The picture that comes to my mind is the PBS Program by the same name – Create – where different people put together something utilizing their passion. Cooking shows feature fabulous dishes “created” from scratch, by the passionate cooks. Similarly with home decorations, sewing, home improvements and even travel.
The core of all this creative process is imagination and the passion to produce – or even to give birth to – the object of imagination. Something comes to existence that was not there before.
George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) is credited with this saying: “Some people see things as they are and wonder, why! I see things that are not and say, why not!” Without imagination nothing new will come to existence.
We can say, therefore, that creation begins in the mind. Imagine in your mind, the transformational life you want to build, then create it. That life will not be there if it is not created in the mind, in imagination.
Mentors ask their proteges to write down how they see their life five, ten, twenty years from now. See it as a reality now, then pursue it. St. Paul in Romans 4:17 writes about “God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were”.
Imagine that life which is not as if it is.
